TIFF 1994, 20 Years Ago
20 years ago this year, I walked into the office of the Toronto International Film Festival, at Church and Carlton, and naîvely asked how I could volunteer. They subsequently exposed me to a world I had never known, through the lens of cinema, transforming the way I saw that world into a realm of possibilities, stark realities, artifice, diversity, and grandeur. The like-minded people I met who worked there, at all levels of the organization, became like family to me. I am forever grateful for the life lessons learned in my time there, one of them being to share with an audience only the love, not the hate, always. xo
Hope all my friends attending or working TIFF this year experience the joy we felt when this photo of the press office team was taken in 1994. “Throwback Thursday” indeed! Best wishes!
